Beaver Lake Cleanup! 2010 event 72

What a beautiful Saturday morning for a great clean up! We started at around 8am. My kids didn't want to be up that early in the morning but once they got there and realized they could ride in a boat they where very excited. After meeting with our friend Ranger Alan we signed in and waited for the next available boat. We boarded a nice pontoon boat owned by Captain Bob he welcomed us aboard with a smile. He took us to a small cove way on the other side of Beaver lake. The fog was still just above the lake. The terrain was a little rough for us but we got through it. I was surprised that we only collected 1 bag of trash. It was a good year I guess. My sons loved to look at the fossils in the rocky shore. My little one collect a pocket full of shells. My oldest son was even interviewed by the university of Arkansas. Captain Bob came back to pick us up after about an hour of cleaning. On the way back to the main dock Captain Bob let my 3 boys be the Captain of the boat. My middle son splashed us all while driving the boat. After the cleaning was done over 200 volunteers converged at the pavilion. They collect enough trash to fill 2 large roll of trailer dumpsters. It was sad to see that much trash had been in the lake but now that it's gone I feel much better now. To thank all the volunteers we where served a big fish fry and lots of door prizes. It was great to help clean up our water supply. I am proud to be a part of such a wonderfull event! Can't wait till next year!

My Big Day!

There will be a ceremony in my honor this Friday. I was very honored to be nominated and overwhelmed that I won. Several city officials nominated me for this wonderful award. Big thanks to Danielle Shasteen, Roland Pinault and Scott Kammerzell as well as the Mayor of Bentonville Bob McCaslin for nominating me.

The Botanical gardens of the Ozark has awarded me with a "Gardenfest Award" "Longstanding Green Leadership Award" (as i mentioned before) we are finely having the BIG Ceremony. The award ceremony was held April 24th of this year but due to a rain storm that knocked out the power to the gardens the ceremony had to be rescheduled. After a week or two they chose June 19th. Sadly my family and I had been planning a trip out of town for that week and there was no real way to change the our plans so I had to miss the ceremony. After talking to the gardens they said if I pick a place and a time they could hold a small ceremony. So I asked Downtown Bentonville Inc. If I could have it at the August First Fridays? And they said they would be honored to. I contacted everyone involved and the show is on.
this Friday at 5:00pm on the Walton Arts Center stage. A small group from the Botanical Gardens will present me with a 5ft tall Dogwood tree and a plaque with my name and award on on it. I will then donate the tree to the city to be planted in Orchard park. A large park being constructed just down the road from the square. The Mayor along with the the Director of the parks and recreation dept. will be there to except my tree as a donation into the park.
The tree will be planted in a beautiful park and will provide clean air an shade to everyone.
I normally don't like all this attention but everyone tells me that I deserve it. I look at it like this, If others can see what all I do to help Save The Planet! Then maybe they will do more to help out as well. So I guess the attention will help save the planet too. I hope :)

Bentonville Senior Center event #61

I had the great honor of being asked to visit the Bentonville Senior center. I will have to admit that I don't normally perform in front of this age group. But I am hear to save the planet and all it's people. I knew that I could help by talking to this great group.
I first let them know what I normally do. I then told them that I wanted the children of earth to keep the planet like they used to. I showed them that kids in today's world believe that everything is disposable, not like when they where growing up. We don't patch our old jeans or repair shoes. Instead we toss and buy new! The kids of yesteryear didn't go to the mall and buy a ton of clothes and then only wear the thing one time.
I hope to help the children of today will learn from our parents and grand parents before the old ways become the the no one knows the way?
All in all everyone had a great time and they loved the car and they really seam to like my hair :) !
PS... No pics this time I was to busy talking to everyone ha.

Special thanks to Susan Moore Director, for inviting me.

Bentonville Clean the Streets

Saturday May 8th was the Bentonville Clean the Streets. I of course was there to help. A lot of great people turned out to volunteer. My family helped clean the Square while many teams cleaned variouse streets around the city. At the end the city provided pizza for all of us. It was a lot of fun and the streets look great too. Thanks to all the volunteers who turned out early that morning for such a good cause. Click on the slide show above to see all the pics my wife took during the event.
