Beaver Lake Cleanup! 2010 event 72

What a beautiful Saturday morning for a great clean up! We started at around 8am. My kids didn't want to be up that early in the morning but once they got there and realized they could ride in a boat they where very excited. After meeting with our friend Ranger Alan we signed in and waited for the next available boat. We boarded a nice pontoon boat owned by Captain Bob he welcomed us aboard with a smile. He took us to a small cove way on the other side of Beaver lake. The fog was still just above the lake. The terrain was a little rough for us but we got through it. I was surprised that we only collected 1 bag of trash. It was a good year I guess. My sons loved to look at the fossils in the rocky shore. My little one collect a pocket full of shells. My oldest son was even interviewed by the university of Arkansas. Captain Bob came back to pick us up after about an hour of cleaning. On the way back to the main dock Captain Bob let my 3 boys be the Captain of the boat. My middle son splashed us all while driving the boat. After the cleaning was done over 200 volunteers converged at the pavilion. They collect enough trash to fill 2 large roll of trailer dumpsters. It was sad to see that much trash had been in the lake but now that it's gone I feel much better now. To thank all the volunteers we where served a big fish fry and lots of door prizes. It was great to help clean up our water supply. I am proud to be a part of such a wonderfull event! Can't wait till next year!
